Rescue Dog Obstacle Course
Service Project
Project Goals
Providing design/construction experience to Christie L. (Girl Scout Troop 81736) for her Gold Award.

The Search and Rescue Association (SARA) of Maryland helps train dogs to find both living and deceased people in disaster areas. SARA dogs have assisted rescue teams in building collapses, landslides, and storm cleanup such as Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy.

The obstacles used to train and certify the dogs as qualified rescue dogs at the Linthicum training facility were more than 15 years old, and were starting to become dangerous for the dogs to climb on. This project sought to replace and improve the current obstacles for long-term training.
